Hosting Relocation

As of February 2010 we will be changing the location in which our sites are hosted from. We have made the change to ensure that our services are the best available. The change in provider will not effect the price of of our hosted solutions.

Why the change?

We want to ensure that we offer the best hosting available to our clients, In order to do this we need to move from our existing provider. By relocating our hosted services we will be moving to the UK's fastest dedicated server provider along with upgrading the platform we use to deliver your sites.

Who are UKFast

UKFast operate the UK's largest and fastest cloud network which is great news for UK customers visiting your site. The site will load more quickly and should help improve your sites conversion ratio as customers won't be sat waiting for information to load. Also by moving our hosted solutions into the cloud we will protect your sites against hardware failure and single device failure. Should an error occur on our server at UKFast it will automatically failover to another server in their network in a matter of minutes resulting in your site appearing as normally. What is Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows Server 2008 R2 is the latest server platform released by Microsoft. Along with improvements within the operating system it also features IIS 7.5, the application used to host websites on a windows server, which will allow your sites to take advantage of the latest web standards and features.

Will there be any downtime on my site

No. Your site will be running in both locations until we are fully ready to switch over to the new location. Your site will always be viewable by members of the public. The only site that will suffer any downtime is the content management system which will be closed during the transfer process so you don't update your site on the wrong server. The control panel will be closed for about 2 hours on the 10th February while we make the change

Will i notice anything different

Yes. Your site should load a lot quicker, at present the throughput to your site from the UK is about 40-50Kbps in the new location this will be boosted to 400-500Kbps. The change could also increase your Google page Rank as they officially announced that site speed is taking into consideration.
